MYC Library - Check It Out!

Have you had a chance to visit the MYC Library? Its establishment was the inspired idea of the Renovation Committee three years ago as part of the overall construction project.

The library collection has grown to its present size through generous donations from our members and each book has (or will have) a specially designed MYC book plate in the front recognizing individual donors.

We think this is quite possibly the only yacht club library of its kind with the resources such as we boast-the useful, the practical and the entertaining for active and armchair sailors alike. (However, we have spotted a very comfortable library at Robin Hood that has a fine collection of paperbacks and magazines!)

Here at MYC you will find everything from anchoring to weather, yacht design and designers, safety at sea and the like, along with wonderful narratives of memorable cruises, ocean passage-making and well-known yacht races. And more...

What are the rules for borrowing books? Not many. Just fill out a slip from the small basket and drop it in the blue box and bring the book or video back after three weeks.

Keep an eye out for some great new books purchased by the Club for the membership. They include: The Propeller Handbook, a complete reference for choosing, installing and understanding boat propellers; Paul Elvestrom explains the Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004, and the useful Boatowner's Guide to Corrosion.

A great high-seas adventure classic with a mystery twist is Philip Caputo's The Voyage, and it's quite a journey. There are many, many other gems. Your comments and suggestions are more than welcome.
